WW2: Secrets of The Third Reich

This escorted Third Reich tour provides a clear and factual look into the rise and fall of the Nazi regime, departing directly from Dublin. Over four days, you will be based in the heart of Munich, a city that served as the ideological capital of the movement. This trip is designed for history enthusiasts who value expert insights and well-organised travel. We stay at the centrally located 4-star Europa Hotel (or similar), ensuring a comfortable base as we explore some of the most significant sites of the 20th century. The itinerary is comprehensive, led by a professional historian who brings depth to the locations visited. Our guides are not just managers; they are experts who provide a balanced narrative of the conflict. We begin in Munich, exploring the streets where the party first took root. You will visit the Königsplatz, the Nazi powerbase at Brienner Strasse, and the site of the Munich Agreement at the Fuhrerbau, gaining a straightforward understanding of how the regime consolidated power. The tour includes a visit to the Löwenbräu beer hall, a site forever linked to the early days of the movement and the failed Beer Hall Putsch. A key part of this Third Reich tour is the visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. This is a sobering and moving experience, providing a necessary look at the reality of the era. As the first camp of its kind, its history is vital to understanding the broader conflict. We also visit the SS Shooting range and Lietenburg Hill. We balance these heavy themes with a visit to the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Oberschleißheim, an impressive aviation museum that showcases the aerospace history of the period. One of the most recognisable highlights of the journey is the excursion to the Bavarian Alps. Here, we visit Berchtesgaden and the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus). Perched high on a mountain peak, this site offers incredible views alongside its dark history as Hitler’s mountain retreat. We also explore the Documentation Centre and the vast underground bunker systems, which reveal the sheer scale of the Nazi leadership’s preparations. Travel Escapes handles all the logistics, from return flights from Dublin to executive coach transfers. This means you can focus entirely on the history and the experience. There is also allocated free time in Munich on the final day, allowing you to explore the local shops, enjoy a Bavarian lunch, or revisit a landmark at your own pace. For Irish travellers seeking an educational and respectful journey through history, this tour offers exceptional value and depth.
